Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about installation, cost, maintenance and what better water means for your home and family.

The free water test

Is the water test really free?

Yes. The water test and the in-home consultation are both free, with no obligation.

How long does it take?

Up to 60 minutes, depending on how in-depth you'd like to go. We're here to answer every question so you feel comfortable with your decision.

Will you try to sell me something?

No pitch. The test is the whole visit, and there's nothing to sign at the kitchen table.

What does the test tell me?

What is in your water and the overall quality of your water, so you know exactly what you are working with.

Installation

How long does installation take?

A typical install takes about 3 hours, from the time we arrive to cleanup.

Do I need to be home?

It's preferred. We walk you through the job step by step during installation and show you how to use your new system before we leave.

Will my water be off?

Yes. The water needs to be shut off while we install the system, so plan around showers, laundry and dishes during that window.

Where does the system go?

The best spot is a 4-foot space next to your basement drain, with an electrical outlet within 4 feet. If your home doesn't have that exact setup, we have options, and we'll look at your space during your free water test.

What if I don't have an outlet nearby?

That's usually not a problem. We'll work out the best way to get power to the system and go over it with you before install day.

Do you service other brands?

Yes. We service and repair most other brands' equipment, except Hague WaterMax and proprietary systems.

Systems and sizes

What do the numbers in the names mean?

The number is the size. WaterLux Complete comes in Complete 9, 10, 12 and 14. Your water test tells us which size fits your home.

Do you work on well water?

Yes. We install on well water as well as city water, and your water test tells us what your well needs.

Why does soft water feel slippery?

That smooth feeling is normal. It's what clean skin feels like without hard-water mineral residue and soap scum left behind.

Will it help my skin and hair?

Yes. Hard minerals leave soap residue behind and chlorine dries out skin and hair. Soft, filtered water rinses clean, so skin and hair feel softer.

How does it help my appliances?

Hard water leaves mineral scale inside water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and pipes. Soft water keeps them cleaner inside so they can run the way they were designed to.

Why filter city water?

City water usually carries chlorine or chloramines, which change how your water tastes and smells and leave skin and hair feeling dry. Filtering it gives you better-tasting water at every tap.

Cost, warranty and service

How much does a system cost?

Pricing depends on your water test results, your home and your household. You get a clear recommendation and price before any work begins.

Can I finance?

Yes. You can buy outright or finance. [confirm financing terms]

What warranty comes with the system?

Every system we install comes with a limited lifetime warranty and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

What maintenance does the system need?

Very little. Softening systems need salt added to the brine tank from time to time, and filter media is replaced on a schedule we go over with you at install.

Who do I call if something goes wrong?

Us. WaterLux is local, and the team that installs your system is the same team you call for service. Call or text (636) 538-9009.
